ARAMARK has successfully retained its place as a long-term provider of catering, retail and leisure services to personnel across HMS Nelson and the Portsmouth Naval Base.
A new contract has been agreed with Fleet Support Ltd (FSL) to supply full catering, retail and leisure services, in addition to the traditional multi-activity contract services. The agreement is for a six-year term, with projected revenue of £38.5 million over the period. The contract includes the delivery of 'Pay As You Dine' (PAYD), an MOD-launched initiative designed to provide more choice and better dining facilities to both Naval and civilian personnel.
The official signing of the PAYD contract between Naval Base Command and FSL took place on 14th February 2007. As the catering service provider, ARAMARK is busy initiating a dynamic make-over programme throughout the Naval Base, including rejuvenation of the Nelson Courtyard, as well as the modernisation of all catering and retail facilities across the Naval Base.
ARAMARK has been providing support services at HMS Nelson since 1987 and has seen a number of changes in that period, in both the services required and the client managing their delivery. This latest development, a new contract with a new client, extends ARAMARK's relationship until 2013. One of the ARAMARK Defence Division’s founding sites, this will mean a continuous on-site presence of 26 years at HMS Nelson.
The continuation of ARAMARK's affiliation with HMS Nelson and the opportunity to further develop the company's relationship with FSL was attributed by Neil Shroeder, Business Development Director, to "the pivotal role played by Dave Mackay, Operations Manager, in understanding the strategic objectives of both FSL and the Royal Navy. Combined with the tremendous performance from the on-site Operations team, which has not only continued current support services but also implemented a complete Pay as You Dine catering solution, ARAMARK’s credentials have been clearly demonstrated."
