ARAMARK celebrates British food festival

05/07/2012

With Britain in the international spotlight in summer 2012, ARAMARK is celebrating the best food the country has to offer as main sponsor and partner of British Food Fortnight.

Running from 27 July - 12 August, British Food Fortnight is an annual festival created to showcase the variety and quality of food from this country. ARAMARK has already demonstrated its support of the Fortnight's 'Cook for the Queen' initiative, a competition which saw schools from across the country develop special menus for Her Majesty. At Buckingham Palace, the four winning schools presented their dishes to the Queen, the Duchess of Cornwall, selected celebrity chefs, and leaders from the food industry including ARAMARK Ltd's Chief Executive, Andrew Main.

Throughout the fortnight, ARAMARK's activities will include special promotions on British products and a range of British-inspired recipe cards, which customers can take home to learn how to make dishes ranging from Summer Pea and Watercress Soup to Summer Pudding.

"We are one of the country's leading suppliers of integrated services and food service is one of our core offers," says Andrew Main. "Local and regional provenance is important to us and I am pleased that we're continuing to develop partnerships with British producers. This is particularly evident in the London region where we now have 30 more of these speciality suppliers than during British Food Fortnight 2011."
