ARAMARK Employees Saddle Up for Charity

18/06/2009

Darren Brunt, from Poole, Lawrence Shirazian, based in Chippenham, Lee Jures, from Romsey and Peter Scargill, based in Woodstock, from the ARAMARK Defence team began their cycling journey on 21 May, covering a total of 847 miles.

No doubt support provided by Sir Chris Hoy MBE ahead of the fundraiser helped gain awareness and played a part in raising over £6,500.  The money has been donated to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) and Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help.

The two chosen charities have been providing crucial help to service personnel for over 100 years.  RAFBF provide financial and practical assistance to those who serve/served in the RAF and take care of partners and dependants, supported by Sir Chris Hoy MBE.

SSAFA support those who serve/served in the Armed Forces and provide care of their relatives.  Last year alone, the SSAFA staff and volunteers provided a service to more than 50,000 people.

Lawrence Shirazian, Commercial Operations Director, ARAMARK, comments:

“This determined team of four has kept to a grueling training regime for the past few months by cycling for miles across the South of England.  There have been a few accidents along the way and one of the team members even suffered a broken rib, however this didn’t deter them from completing their challenge.  The team’s efforts further emphasise the level of commitment shown throughout the company to the progression of our core CR plan and its ambitious objectives.”
