The pupils at Belhus Chase Humanities College and Robert Milligan, one of ARAMARK's Executive Chefs, were bestowed the huge honour of being invited to meet The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall at their visit to the 'Dig for Victory: War on Waste' organic allotment in St James's Park.
To celebrate The Duchess of Cornwall's birthday, Their Royal Highnesses visited the allotment and met volunteers who tend the plot before being presented with a carrot cake made by Belhus Chase pupils with carrots picked from the allotment. Milligan and the young people from his partner school attended to mark the launch of British Food Fortnight (BFF), which aims to develop young pupils culinary education. Milligan represented ARAMARK, the food service company and a lead sponsor of British Food Fortnight, which sends its chefs in to provide cooking lessons for local schools during the Fortnight.
The allotment, which is part of a joint project between The Royal Parks and the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, promotes sustainability and provides a working example of how to grow fruit and vegetables, attract wildlife and recycle waste.

"As part of our commitment to British Food Fortnight we have been working with the pupils at Belhus Chase Humanities College to arrange visits to our catering outlet at the bank where I'm based to support their cooking lessons. It has been a huge success and it was great to be invited to meet Their Royal Highnesses who are so supportive of the British Food Fortnight scheme. It was a great honour for all concerned and a wonderful boost to the superb work which has already taken place."
