ARAMARK has announced that Bruce Harper, Head Chef at BP in Aberdeen, has been awarded the coveted title of Contract Catering Chef of the Year at the annual Catering in Scotland Excellence awards.
Harper, born in Torphins and raised in Alford, a village in Donside, Aberdeen, was presented with the prestigious accolade at the Glasgow Hilton at the end of May.
Speaking about Harper's achievement, Andy Roberts at BP explained why the BP team felt the hard-working chef was rightly honoured at the ceremony:
"As Project Director for the relocation of BP's North Sea Headquarters into a brand new building, I have been deeply impressed by the leadership and professionalism that Bruce has shown in co-ordinating his team. Bruce has done everything from offering deeply thoughtful input into the design of the new catering facilities, through managing both old and new buildings in parallel for the several weeks of the move programme, to inspiring his staff to present a really fresh food offer in the new building at a completely new level of presentation. He really does deserve this recognition."
Willie Rowell, Regional Operations Manager at ARAMARK, said, "Bruce has been based at BP since 1992 and has surrounded himself with a team built on mutual respect, loyalty, integrity and honesty. He never fails to have a smile on his face regardless of the pressures he faces, which includes producing 1,000 meals a day! He has shown true commitment to delivering exceptional standards and is a great example of the talented and dedicated individuals in the company."
Harper's win comes hot on the heels of the recent ARAMARK Offshore award wins at the Scottish Institute of Directors Awards and the RoSPA Awards earlier this year.
