ARAMARK Searches for its Catch of the Day!

03/03/2008

ARAMARK is holding its first ever Seafood Challenge as part of the launch of its new 'Southern Academy' at the Hotel & Catering Show in Bournemouth.

The live Seafood Challenge, sponsored by M & J Seafood, will see six talented ARAMARK chefs battle it out to be crowned the winner on the 11th March. In true 'MasterChef' style, all entrants will prepare two seafood plates, a 'free choice' fish-based dish and a seafood finger buffet platter, all within a mere 60 minutes under the close scrutiny of the judging panel.

Kevin Higgs, Michael Clare, Daniel Pinhorn, Dan Hall, Martin Rice and Aidan Miller will all be competing on the day for the accolade of Best Southern Seafood Challenge Chef, the all important trophy, and £250 of Dine Out vouchers (supplied by M & J Seafood).

The competition will test each chef's ability under pressure. They’ll need to work quickly to deliver great looking and tasting meals. And, after much "deliberation, cogitation and digestion" the Craft Guild of Chefs, resident experts and the all important judges, will announce the winner at 4.00pm.

For Les Bradfield, Craft Skills Business Partner at ARAMARK, investing in the future of its chefs and encouraging talent to grow is a key part of the company's culture. "We launched the Southern Academy with the Seafood Challenge to raise awareness and nurture the gifted employees we have. The competition and Academy provide the chefs with an exciting opportunity to benefit from each other's expertise. The Academy, in particular, will enable them to share experiences and trade secrets to the advantage of everyone. They will be able to brainstorm menus, recipes and develop promotions. The opportunities are endless and we look forward to the results."

To see who can stand the heat in the kitchen come and see the live competition at the Hotel & Catering Show in Bournemouth on the 11th March at 1.30pm in the Live Theatre area.
