BP is to open the first stand alone version of its successful Wild Bean Café in the UK at Portsmouth’s Continental Ferry Port in Hampshire.
A huge range of 'gourmet on the go' food products have been on sale under the award winning Wild Bean banner in BP filling stations for the last seven years.
They will be available on their own for the first time with the opening of the UK's first stand alone Wild Bean Café, which will open at Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port on Wednesday, July 9th.
The Wild Bean Café will be operated by food and facilities management company, ARAMARK, which operates all catering for the Port.
BP's UK Convenience Retail Director, Karen Hubbard, said: "We are very excited about opening the UK's first stand alone Wild Bean Café, after the brand's spectacular growth over the last seven years.
"This is a natural progression of our existing roadside brand, which meets the needs of people who want a quality coffee and food offer in less than five minutes better than any other.
"Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port is the ideal location to launch this exciting new era for Wild Bean Café, with many car and vehicle drivers who are already familiar with the brand."
Ms Hubbard added: "We are excited about our new partnership with ARAMARK. Their professionalism and expertise in food service makes them an ideal partner."
Phil Gadd, Ferry Port Manager, Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port, said: "We are extremely pleased to be the first location to home a stand alone Wild Bean Café and look forward to its completion. The Café will provide our foot and vehicle passengers convenient access to hot gourmet food and drinks whilst in the terminal building. This marks a programme of ongoing improvements to services for passengers passing through the Port."
Morag McCay, Retail Development Director at ARAMARK, said: "We are delighted to be part of this first. Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port is an extremely busy and crucial lifeline for both freight and passengers travelling to the continent and the Channel Islands. With no less than 1.9million people passing through its terminal every year, we are confident the partnership will prove a huge success. We look forward to serving the many people stopping off in need of accessible, competitively priced, convenient food. It is a win-win situation for everyone."
Wild Bean Café was introduced into BP sites in 2001, with the first opened in Atlanta. Alongside high quality coffee, Wild Bean Café offers hot and cold baguettes, salads, pastries, and fruit. Last year a limited edition range was added to the menu. There are now Wild Bean Cafés at more than 200 BP petrol stations in England and Scotland, with the first small format version of the offer opening at a dealer site in Peterborough in May.
