Jurate - Hospitality Supervisor

I joined ARAMARK in a temporary role as Food Service Assistant in the Deli bar of a major international company. After four months I became permanent, working in both hospitality and the deli bar. The company sent me on a variety of training courses including health and safety, which is an area of very strong focus at ARAMARK.

The unit I was working in was refurbished and ARAMARK expanded the services they provided. I had the chance to work in the coffee shop so the company trained me as a barista and I developed further customer service skills. After six months, I was promoted to Deli Bar Supervisor, managing five people in the Deli team and all aspects of the Deli Bar, including ordering and devising the weekly specials.

When ARAMARK won a new contract with a media company, I moved into a new challenging role as Hospitality Supervisor, dealing with all bookings, ordering supplies and supervising the hospitality food preparation staff. When the new General Manager joined, I made him aware that I was keen to learn more about the financial management of the unit. ARAMARK sent me on a number of courses to help me grow my skills and I also learnt on site.

When ARAMARK won a new contract with an international bank in the City, my manager encouraged me to move into the role of Hospitality Supervisor at that operation. There are over 1,000 people on site using over 20 meeting rooms. It was very exciting to be able to move into a new building and work with the Executive Chef to agree the standards for hospitality and the layout of the rooms. Added to that, I had the chance to build a new team.
